The Time is Now
In 1999 the Coppell school trustees implemented a string orchestra program in grade six in our three
middle schools. The program was very successful, but it was discontinued after the first year. The
trustees believed the program would be too expensive. Orchestra supporters were told that we
would have to wait...
...so we waited patiently.
It is now September 17, 2009. We have waited long enough.

Coppell Strings advocates the addition of a strings program for the students in the Coppell ISD.
In 1999, a Fine Arts committee of school personnel and parents formed by CISD,
recommended the creation of a strings program and the addition of a Fine Arts Director for CISD.
Coppell Strings shall:
- Provide information about the benefits of orchestra
- Provide a central contact for orchestra advocacy in Coppell
- Provide information about the costs associated with a string program
- Provide a vehicle for organization for like-minded interested persons
- Facilitate online discussion about the merits of an orchestra program
The advocacy of an orchestra program can stand on its own merits. It is
with this spirit that you are invited to join the effort to advocate a school orchestra
program in Coppell.
